The route, step by step
1. Departure from Port Olímpic
You meet your captain at Port Olímpic, right in the centre of the city. Welcome drinks on board, five minutes of briefing, and off you go. No licence and no boating knowledge needed: the captain handles everything.
2. Swim stop off Barceloneta
Barceloneta is only a few minutes past the harbour entrance. If the group wants, we anchor off the beach, cut the engine and you swim straight off the boat, in clean water and away from boat traffic. It is almost everyone’s favourite moment: the city seen from the water, with the Port Olímpic tower and the W hotel behind you.
This stop is optional. If you would rather spend the full 2 hours cruising, we skip it.
3. Port Vell: postcard maritime Barcelona
We carry on southwest into Port Vell, the city’s historic harbour. In a few minutes of cruising you pass:
- The World Trade Center Barcelona, its bow-shaped façade jutting out into the water
- The harbour cable car, crossing above the sea from the Sant Sebastià tower up to Montjuïc
- The Columbus statue, at the bottom of Las Ramblas, pointing out to sea
- Maremagnum and the wooden footbridge of Moll d’Espanya
This is the most photogenic stretch of the tour, seen from an angle nobody standing on shore gets. The captain slows right down here so you can take your time with photos.
4. Across to the far end of the city
From Port Vell we head northeast and run the whole Barcelona waterfront: Barceloneta, Port Olímpic from the outside, Nova Icària, Bogatell, Mar Bella and Nova Mar Bella. This is the open cruising stretch, with the entire city skyline on one side and open sea on the other.
5. The Fòrum solar canopy
The route ends at the Fòrum photovoltaic canopy, the huge tilted solar pergola leaning over the water next to Parc del Fòrum. From the sea it is far more impressive than from land: a steel wave suspended above the promenade. It is the northernmost point of the Barcelona coast and marks the edge of the city.
6. Back to Port Olímpic
We return to port at the agreed time, straight into the sunset if you picked the late-afternoon slot.
Does all of that fit in 2 hours?
Yes, as long as the swim stop stays short, around 20 minutes. The full end-to-end route is roughly 6 nautical miles there and back, and the boat covers that comfortably in 2 hours with time to slow down in Port Vell and to swim.
If you want a long swim, or longer stops at each landmark, the easy fix is to add an hour for €80. With 3 hours (€320) you do the route without watching the clock.
